Sweden has a big reputation for being a family-oriented country where the government and society give tremendous effort to provide the best service to its citizens and residents. There is ample support for families - from the earliest stages up to later ages of the child.

For expats it might be difficult to navigate the jungle of institutions responsible for want-to-be families, expectant women, babies or small children.

For this event, we will gather at Mama Mia Klara in Lund, where you’ll meet a midwife and a pediatric nurse who will share essential health information for those planning to have — or already have — children in Sweden. We will also give you some tips and information about other aspects regarding the life with small children in Sweden.

Questions that will be addressed include:

• I want to get pregnant, but can't. What should I do?
• What to expect from the pre-natal and post-natal care in Sweden. Where do I deliver my baby?
• How do I enroll myself or my baby in the healthcare system? What is the responsibility of MVC, BVC, VC, and Barnläkare?
• What kind of support do I find in case of difficulties during my pregnancy or early parenthood (e.g. regarding breastfeeding)?
